21/03 2017

Elena Chatziliadou from Greece achieved the Bronze medal in discipline Kumite 68+ Kg at Karate 1 Premier League - Lotto Dutch Open 2017, this Sunday, March 19, 2017 in Rotterdam. Karate Live brings you short interview with Elena Chatziliadou.

How difficult was the way to the bronze medal and which kumite match was the hardest for you?
The way to the semifinal was in the 1st round against the European bronze medalist 2016 from Montenegro with score 6-3 was a bit difficult because the score was 3-2 and in the last minutes I took 3 points with ouramawasi.

Then in the 2nd round against England 1-1 , in the 3rd against Holland 2-0 , in the 4th against France 5-0 and in the semi final against Ukraine the Grand Winner 2016 with score 2-2 and I lost because of the new roules she take the 1st point and I lost the chance to compete again against Japan after the final in the World Championship.

In the bronze final I fight against Switzerland and I win with score 6-0.

What is your overall feeling from the K1 Dutch Open?
I am only a "little" bit sad because I was so close and I think i was in a very good shape for being in the final. I study for months the world champion and when I reached the semifinal my goal was to fight against her. From the other side I am sooo happy that I am one more time one of the top athletes in my category.
Now I am doing my best and preparing for the European Championship and for the World Games.

Thank you very much for the interview. We wish you all the best in the future. Karate Live
